Placement Testing at UW-Stevens Point

Why Placement Testing Matters

Placement testing ensures you start in the right classes from day one. By assessing your current skill level, it sets you up for success and helps prevent being over- or under-placed in your courses.

Timing Reminder:
Placement tests must be completed at least two weeks before your Academic Advising appointment to ensure your scores are received on time. If you have not scheduled your advising appointment yet, log into the Admitted Student Portal to do that at your earliest convenience.

Registration Process

1. Register Your Account

Use your UWSP email when signing up. If you already created an account with a personal email, that is fine as long as it is not a high school email. If it is a high school email, contact the Regional Testing Office at 608-262-5863 or frontdesk@exams.wisc.edu to change your email.

2. Verify Your Email

You will receive a message from the Regional Testing Office with a verification code. Enter the code to complete registration.

3. Check for Login Details

After verifying your email, you’ll get another message from Meazure Learning with your username and password. Typically, this arrives within an hour. Be sure to check your junk/spam folder if you don't see it.

4. Access Your Tests

Log into Meazure Learning and click “My Tests.” Your exams should appear:

  • Math A
  • English
  • World Language (optional)
Important: If your tests do not appear, do not purchase a test. Contact Meazure Learning for account merging.

English Placement Test Exemptions

You do not need to take the English Placement Test if you provide ONE of the following:

  • An AP score report of 3 or higher in English Language & Composition or English Literature & Composition
  • An official college transcript showing a completed college-level English course (equivalent to ENGL 101 or ENGL 202 at UWSP)

Contact the Office of Admissions with exemption questions: 715-346-2441 or admiss@uwsp.edu.

Important: AP or dual credit courses that are in progress do not qualify for exemption.

Testing Details & Timing

Exams are available on-demand. You do not need to complete all tests in one sitting.

You will have:

  • 90 minutes for Math
  • 90 minutes for English
  • 60 minutes for World Languages

You may take breaks between tests, but not during a test. The timer continues once started.

Important: After each test, be sure to submit your exam. Failure to submit may delay score reporting and impact your Academic Advising appointment scheduling.
